Linktree vs Website: This Helped Me Decide Wisely!

Linktree vs Website: This Helped Me Decide Wisely!

Linktree and your own website might seem like they do the same thing, but choosing one can change how you show up online.

A few weeks ago, I faced the same problem. As an SEO content writer and a musician, I struggled to decide which option was the right fit for me.

After a series of events, I came up with a plan that helped me choose the best outcome.

Want to know the plan I came up with? Let me break it down for you.

What Happens When You Choose Linktree Over Your Own Website?

#1 - Don’t have to worry about purchasing a domain name, web hosting, and the technical side of things. Within a few clicks, you can go live with everything you got.

#2 - But forget about SEO and making your page rank higher on Google, Bing, Yahoo, and other search engines.

#3 - Be ready to lose all your freedom. You can’t hire a developer to tweak your website’s functionalities, install plugins, customize design, etc. Basically, you have to settle with less.

#4 - And since Linktree doesn’t allow a custom domain, you’ll always do free marketing for them even on the paid plan.

#5 - Multiple pages? What’s that? All you get is a single page website.

What Happens When You Choose Your Own Website Over Linktree?

#1 - You have to worry about buying a reliable web hosting, unique domain name, and a little bit of technical support. All in all, you have to invest your time and money.

#2 - Designing a website isn’t easy, even if you hire someone to do it for you. This involves a lot of planning and customization.

#3 - Not only this, you have to take care of regular updates and security vulnerability issues.

#4 - Unlike Linktree, you have a lot of space to showcase what you do. For that, you have to write a lot of content or hire someone to do it.

#5 - The best part? All of this generates more visitors for you which results in more revenue in the long run.

Why Linktree Might Be Best for You?

Creators who are just starting out don’t need to invest their time and resources for a personal website.

Initially, you won’t even have a lot of content and links to showcase.

Once your content grows and you expand your reach, either create a website or use a platform that allows a custom domain.

Until then, keep it simple, branch out, and focus on growth.

Why a Website Might Be Best for You?

When your personal brand or company is scaling, Linktree doesn’t cut it.

Managing multiple aspects of your work through a link in bio platform can confuse your audience.

With multiple ventures, a website offers the customization, design, and clarity you need to communicate with your audience.

And as you grow, you should put your name in the spotlight instead of marketing Linktree’s name for free.

Linktree or Website? Here’s What Helped Me Decide!

Every social media bio I’ve got says the same thing:

I’m into writing content for B2B/C Companies ✍️ SEO Strategies 📈 and Creative Sales Tactics 🚀 — and when I need a reset, I make music 🎶

Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn - It’s everywhere!

Building a personal brand with a versatile personality like mine isn’t easy, but prioritization has been my secret.

I make a living as a content writer and SEO expert, so standing out matters to me. That's why I created a personal website to represent my content writing and SEO skills, as Linktree alone couldn't cut it.

There are certain things I can’t do on Linktree, and doing so would be a nightmare.

For instance, take a look at this:

Even if you try to achieve this, it would be chaotic.

And here’s another example:

Apart from content writing and SEO, I’m a music producer, singer, songwriter, and someone who loves to chit chat a lot about psychology and life.

To tie it all together, I built a Linktree page that even includes my personal website.

Have a look here:

You might think there’s no way to find my content writing portfolio, but it’s actually tucked inside the 'want to learn more about me' page.

I set it up this way because I think it is not important since I always direct my prospects to my website.

At last, I’d say my story might be entirely different from yours, but I believe it can inspire you to craft a plan that works best for you.

Hope it helps :)
